    Frequently asked questions

    1. Who can apply for obtaining or reacquiring Romanian citizenship?

Individuals who previously held Romanian citizenship and lost it, as well as their descendants up to the third degree, can apply for reacquisition of citizenship. Additionally, citizenship may be granted to foreigners who meet the legal requirements.

    2. How long does the process of reacquiring Romanian citizenship take?

The law provides a 5-month period for processing applications. In practice, the duration may be longer, but a lawyer can intervene to expedite the procedure or file legal actions in case of delays.

    3. Is personal presence in Romania required to submit the application?

At certain stages, such as taking the oath of allegiance, personal presence is mandatory. For other stages, the lawyer can represent the client based on a power of attorney.

    4. What happens if the citizenship application is rejected?

The rejection order can be challenged in court. A specialized lawyer handles drafting the summons and representing the applicant before the courts to protect their rights.

    5. Can I also submit an application for minor children?

Yes, minors can be included in the application. The citizenship certificate for minors can be collected by the parents or legal representatives.
